Ahoy there, me maties!, Gasparilla was a little chilly this year. but the members and guests of Paradise still had a great time. Gasparilla was first held in Tampa in 1904 as "Captain Jose Gaspar" and his crew of "Pirates" "attacked" Tampa, surrounded by hundreds of other boaters as they sailed the Gasparilla Ship through Tampa Bay, landed in downtown Tampa and "took over the city." At Paradise, we like to celebrate this local event in our own way. Lots of beads and pirate costumes dominated the nightclub Saturday night and everyone learned how to speak like a pirate. Phrases like "Come on up and see me urchins" or "Smartly, me lass, fetch me my grog" were heard everywhere. Sunday was spent in Key West enjoying two great football games, bar-side contests and fabulous food, drink and company! That was our weekend , How was YOURS?
